Hats off to James Madison. I never expected a Colonial team to be that good but they came into Fargo with a great game plan. The play that swung momentum back in their favor was a Bison senior lining up offsides on a 4th and 19 that put JMU into FG range and then their kicker made his first 40+ yard kick of the season.
I'm grateful for the run but goddammit, NDSU needs to recruit some real receivers, man. I know they're a run-first team but you can't tell me that all this success couldn't have landed some of the big WRs other FCS teams have. But no, let's have all these small guys who can't get open. Fantastic.
Like I said, I understand it. I don't disagree with them choosing not to play. It just feels like they're doing their teammates a disservice by acknowledging that the success of the team doesn't matter to them as much as everyone else. Most of those guys don't have an NFL future ahead of them, and they're going to head into what might be the last football game they ever play without a guy they've relied on for the past 3+ years.
They're focusing on their careers though, and I get it.
If a player is gonna sit out of a bowl game while healthy, they shouldn't be allowed to travel with the team at the very least. If you're taking the vacation, get your ass on the field.
Miami's front seven next year has the potential to be filthy.
Worried about the secondary, and very worried about the quarterback position, though. That front seven should be able to mask some of the weaknesses on the back end, but I have no idea what to expect at QB. Hopefully N'kosi Perry is as good as Canes fans are hyping him up to be, because Malik Rosier kind of sucks.
