Now the Clippers can work on trying to find a big shooting guard when free agency starts Saturday at 9 p.m. PDT, and to offer contract extensions to All-Stars Griffin and Paul.

The Clippers are expected to offer Griffin a five-year extension that could be worth up to $95 million, with an opt-out clause after the fourth season. Griffin also could sign a four-year extension. Griffin, who will earn $7.2 million next season, is expected to sign one of the deals.

Doesn't mean he isn't worth a max contract

He's only worth a max if he develops a post game and starts playing defense, I think.

He might get some highlight reel dunks in games, but he's not a player I fear against good defenders.

What does it really matter though if he can get you 20 and 10 nightly? Does it really matter how he gets his points. He uses his athleticism better than anyone else and he gets points because of it. Shouldn't be viewed as a negative of his.

He's worth a max contract if he never improves.

"It doesn't matter how he gets his 20"--does that argument apply to Kevin Love as well when he scores 25-30 every night and grabs 15-20 rebounds? I still got people acting like he isn't even in the conversation for best 4 in the game because of his non-traditional ways.

I don't care what Blake Griffin averages when he isn't even close to reaching his ceiling if he would just learn some post moves and start acting like the defensive end of the floor matters.

I wasn't trying to bring that argument up again, just either making or breaking the "it doesn't matter" point based on how people feel about a different player.

I don't deny that Blake Griffin is good, but why does any old somewhat of a Superstar get a max deal these days?

because thats what it takes to keep your players. it sucks. ive been bitching about it all off-season. but he deserves it anyways. if you think hes going to be this one-dimensional of a player his whole career then youre an idiot.

He's got a small window to make that happen, though. It's either in these next two seasons or it'll never happen. He really should be studying under Karl Malone, if the mailman would ever do such a thing.

you know damn well karl malone would never do that. it shouldnt be all on him. the team should be getting a better coaching staff to help him. he needs to be hitting the gym in the off-season and im sure he is. hes a gym rat.
