The risk was about to be minimized once they traded Bynum for Dwight Howard

I'd say that's pretty irrelevant because I'm sure most of the owners who would benefit would want the Lakers to pay that tax.

Like the Yankees/Red Sox in baseball

Gilbert's net worth is 1.5 billion, and he has never used the Cavs to make money.. The guy couldn't even break even when he had LeBron... He's been a tax payer himself his entire tenure as owner.. I really doubt that's his motivation to block the deal.

the trade would have saved the lakers money
here's dan gilbert

"Over the next three seasons this deal would save the Lakers approximately $20 million in salaries and approximately $21 million in luxury taxes. That $21 million goes to non-taxpaying teams and to fund revenue sharing."

Gilbert is about to open multiple casinos in Ohio and watch as his cash flows in.. The dude basically runs downtown Cleveland and he's only getting bigger. The guy does not care about losing pocket change via NBA luxury tax.

The thing is, if the Hornets had real owners, they wouldn't have taken that shitty trade in the first place.

The whole point of it is, is helping other small market teams.. After one more draft or two and the Cavs start to get competitive, they won't be receiving tax payer money, they'll be one of the teams giving up money, so I don't see how he comes off as greedy. Like I said, he's been a tax payer his entire tenure.

you all hate the lakers. it's cool

but no one did anything unfair here. nothing illegal

this should not have been vetoed

how the hell does the nba let melo force his way to ny, let the heat and celtics do their thing, and then veto this

wow im still furious

Probably cause you overvalue your players.

I dont think many people understand the the NBA owned the Hornets so they can do whatever they want with them. If they feel a trade isnt good for them they can decline. It has nothing to with trying to bring down the Lakers or anything. Im pretty sure if Miami didnt have a owner last and the NBA took them over then then LeBron would still be a Cavalier.

Also, do you not realize they went into a lockout, partly because of the Melo and Heat shit? They're trying to avoid it from happening again..

Pau is soft as cake and doesn't help the Hornets what so ever.

And no, Odom is not fringe all-star talent. C'mon Mexi.
