Brett Anderson had a strong 2009 for the Athletics, going 11-11 in the majors as a rookie. With the addition of a new pitch, Oakland expects him to deliver on some of that promise.

"This year, he's mixing in a changeup, to keep hitters from sitting on his 95-mph-plus heat and low-90s slider," reported the San Francisco Chronicle. "The change, remember, is the pitch Tim Lincecum added to his repertoire just before winning two Cy Young Awards. It has become Lincecum's most effective pitch, and Anderson's change is showing promise."

Anderson is third in the rotation, behind Ben Sheets and Justin Duchscherer. With the addition of the change, and another year of experience, the As believe that he will do major damage from the No. 3 spot.

Ricky begs to differ :D.
Not yet he had a good rookie season but too early to tell yet. Lackey is a pretty good #3 starter as well. I picked Brett on my fantasy team though

Its either John Lackey or Javier Vasquez. The A's dont even have a proven #1, lmao.

Sheets is injury prone, Duschcherer coming off injury, doesn't say much for Anderson.

Lackey has him beat by a mile.

The title is just what it was titled on ESPN.
And he should be our #1, they just give it to Sheets and Deuscherer because they are vets and proven in the past I'm guessing.

Hanson was the first guy I thought of, but that's just because the Braves are playing the Cubs. There's a lot of guys I'd put ahead of Anderson.

Last year he seemed to be inconsistent, and had an ERA over 4, I think that Dallas Braden is currently better then Anderson, but Anderson does have a chance to be great one day
