Do you understand the concept of a max contract?
Doesn't mean you have to give it to them while under contract.

All max contracts are signed at a percentage of the current cap so it doesn't really matter how fast/slow it continues to rise

James Harden has made 5 All Star teams, 3 All NBA first teams and just put up 28-12-8, if you're not giving him a max contract someone else will. And yea signing him to an extension is very valuable to the organization

But the cap is based on other factors most notably tv deals. The cap is not going to rise much more. Were most likely close to the peak.

I look forward to everyone bitching about his defense in 2 years.

I get that it's the max, my main issue is these n7mbers are fucking absurd now. I don't like his contract, I don't like Currys either. I don't like the direction this league is going.

My issue was the "he deserves this" comment. Fucking nobody "deserves" to make +$40M per year, in any sport.

You will not see this when Russell Westbrook eventually gets a big contract

and when the owners start refusing to give those out, we'll have another lockout.

My thought wasn't even about the children. More that he "deserves" it.

A) he deserves this money

B) God bless you sir, milk that season for every penny you can.

I'd rather go with sentence b, tbh.

It's not falling either. The cap will continue to grow slowly over the foreseeable future, like the cap had done before the new TV conrtact.

There's also some projections that the cap could be north of $110 Million in a few years

Stop hating, Curry's contract is roughly the same as someone signing a 5 year $120M contract like 6 years ago. This money isn't changing anything about the league.

Just cause your team gave Tim Hardaway Jr $71M doesn't mean these contracts are bad for the league

They're being payed by billionaires who make even more money off them, so I don't see how it's undeserved

Has nothing to do with hardaway. This money is absurd, all around.

Also has fucking nothing to do with billionaire owners. The cap isn't set by the value of the owners.

A big point of the new cba was to give small market teams a chance to keep up with big markets, and keep their players. But the cap size is screwing it up. Not sure how you guys can't see that.

You think Memphis, for example, is going to give someone $200M or more?
