Auburn QB Cam Newton reportedly scored a 21 on the Wonderlic Test at last month's Scouting Combine.
Other notable Wonderlics: Greg McElroy - 43, Christian Ponder - 35, Ricky Stanzi - 30, Andy Dalton - 29, Ryan Mallett - 26, Jake Locker - 20. The average score for quarterbacks, historically, is 24. Newton was probably going to avoid being "dinged" as long as he didn't score in the teens, so this is good news for the potential No. 1 overall pick. For perspective last year, Tim Tebow scored a 22 and Jimmy Clausen 23. Sam Bradford had a 36.

Also notable, is Gabbert got a 42.
I'm not sure why he wasn't on that list.

Ooo wow. 42 for Gabbert, thats real good. Newton and Locker did not do well.

Is the wonderlic kinda like a IQ test or is it like football based knowledge?

The Wonderlic Cognitive Ability Test (formerly known as the Wonderlic Personnel Test (WPT)) is a twelve-minute, fifty-question test used to assess the aptitude of prospective employees for learning and problem-solving in a range of occupations.

Ryan Fitzpatrick has the highest current active wonderlic score in the NFL, I believe.

That should tell you something kiddies.

And Vince Young has near the lowest, while it doesn't mean much.. It means something.

Fitz is a decent/good QB.

Which is fine, but we've been over this.

Go look at Peyton, Ben, Rivers, etc. All of their test scores aren't that high.

Way overrated in the grand scheme of things.

The actual test itself is essentially meaningless, but it is more of a test on how fast you can process information.

The "OK" is 24.

Ben, Peyton, Rivers were all around there if I believe so.

Will Greg McElory be the biggest success out of this class?
