On condition of anonymity, an NBA scout assessed how Ben McLemores skill set will translate to the NBA.

McLemore is a better version of Ray Allen. He will play shooting guard the way it is supposed to be played, the talent evaluator said. The only negative to his game is sometimes he defers. He could definitely use another year in college to learn to take over games.

Obviously, he had to go (pro), the scout quickly added. The draft is only about potential now.

McLemores shooting stroke has drawn raves from NBA observers.

McLemore shot 49.5 percent from the floor, including 42 percent from the three-point line, during his lone season at Kansas.

If I counted right, Shabazz had 15 games this year where he didn't record an assist. That's impressive for a guard.

And I still do.  And since then pretty much every scouting service has listed him as a SF.

I doubt he has the foot speed to guard 2s. Just have to live with him being a bit undersized at the 3

Without looking at his measurable and taking a guess, I don't even think he is going to be that undersized either. Could be wrong

Nah he's not.

6'6, 223 lbs, 6'11.25" wingspan, 8'8 standing reach.

And he could grow some more.

Maybe a little undersized but then you're just being picky.

How old is he?  20?  If so he probably still has a year or two of growth left.  Not saying he's gonna grow anymore, but that's the average I believe.

And he'll obviously get stronger between now and his second NBA season.  And he's already a physically mature guy.

The stat in that article stating only 6% of his offense comes from iso and pnr's scares me. I wouldn't say you have to but it's pretty important to be able to create or yourself or others. He obviously doesn't create for others and it appears for himself either.

As a 3rd or 4th scorer I guess he's fine

My fear is some team will try and make him a 2nd option and he'll fail drastically.  He needs to be drafted into the right situation.

I think he could work on Cleveland, New Orleans, Sacramento (meh), and Washington.
