Well since Rios brought up NL/AL MVP's why not bring up AL/NL ROY's right?

AL: Dustin Ackley
NL: Kimbrel

I think Lawrie would easily beat out Ackley if they played exactly the same amount of games. Lawrie already has as many homeruns as him.

Kimbrel is a good choice for NL ROY with 40 saves, and a 1.70 ERA.

Haven't been following the rookie race too much though.

Maybe if the jays called him up earlier he would have had a chance but I think he hasn't played enough to be considered a candidate. I'm actually hoping he doesn't go over 135 at bats but unfortunately he'll probably have over 135 lol

Is that what you need to be considered a rookie? lol.

Ye if a rook is over that, he's not gonna be considered a rook the next season.

Weaver > Verlander

30 point ERA advantage and if he finishes under 2.00 it's over.
I'm a big fan of Weaver.

But Verlander has a better .BAA and .OBPA, plus with more strikeouts, and a better WHIP. Only think Weaver really beats him in is ERA.

Guess we should make a Cy Young thread now :p

Name a pitcher with a sub-2 ERA who didn't win the Cy...I'll wait.

ERA is too misleading.
FIP is a better judge. same with xFIP

ERA has too many variables
say a pitcher in Oakland has a 2.3 ERA. he has a huge advantage of all that foul ground and just an overall huge park
say a pitcher has an ERA of 2.3 in Colorado. way more impressive considering that ballpark

FIP is things a pitcher can control. Walks, Strikeouts, Homers. once a hitter puts the ball in play, it's up to the defense

Justin's FIP is 2.73
Weav's FIP is 2.80

tons of other stats suggest Justin over Weav.
i didnt even go into xFIP or Ground ball percentage etc

but even looking beyond SABR. Verlander has WAY more K's
has 1 more walk in about 20 more innings
a 2.28 ERA isnt something to dismiss either if youre going to look at ERA

I think Morrow is top 3 in fip :D

Do the voters even look at sabermetrics though?
