I really do hope they sign him though. A rotation of: Price-Shields-Sanchez-Verlander-Greene/Simon is MUCH stronger than Price-Sanchez-Verlander-Greene-Simon. Also gives us bullpen flexibility. Would probably throw Simon in there, where is he probably better suited.

Been telling the dudes at work for a while now they should go after him. Makes too much sense.

I'm not exactly sure if shields will be any cheaper than you think.

It would be probably be in the 144 million range, like the contract we offered Max last off-season. At least that is what I read.

Just 20 more years until y'all can stop paying Bobby Bonilla lol. Bernie Madoff and Fred Wilpon really put the Mets in a hole.

And Wilpon is in charge of all of MLB's finances. That's encouraging...

How does a man who makes that boneheaded a decision get a PROMOTION?

I give him less than 5 years. If this is any indication of what else he wants to do as commissioner he won't last very long.

Banning of defensive shifts? Why on earth would that even be considered.

He seems to think it would help improve offensive production across the league by preventing teams from drastically shifting to one side of the field against a pull hitter. Problem is it's a ridiculous, tinfoil idea that will never gain traction. And it's not like teams are doing that pull hitter shift that often.

And regardless eventually teams will figure out that they need to stress better plate discipline & pitch recognition when developing their minor league hitters. It'll work itself out and you'll start to see offensive production go back up.

If he was hoping to make a big first impression as Commissioner then he's not off to a good start.
