According to numerous reports, Steve Yzerman will be named the new general manager of the Tampa Bay Lightning at a 3 p.m. ET news conference Tuesday.

CBC's Elliotte Friedman and Rogers Sportsnet's Nick Kyperos both reported the Hall of Fame center and current Red Wings executive will be taking the job.
Congrats to Stevie Y. He will have to quit his current job as Executive with Detroit I am guessing? :[

He'll have some decisions to make but I think this team has a bright future

I hope he does good as a GM there. Congrats to him. Bolts are not very far from making the post season.

Stevie Y is a GOAT and instantly turns the Lightning to a great team.

But seriously, good luck to himself and the Lightning.

The Bolts have one hell of a future. Can't wait to see Stamkos excel again next year.

I hope he does well in Tampa. Even though he was a Red Wing he is still one of my most respected athletes.

Haha I don't know of anyone that agrees with Sakic > Yzerman.

Great to see Yzerman become a GM. Eventually he will go back to Detroit I think but for now its a great move.
It will be interesting to see what his first trade as the Lightning Gm he'll make.

Yep that's what everyone round here is saying. Whenever Holland goes Yzerman will come back (if he was successful that is). By that time Yzerman will be even more experienced.

This move helps us to be honest, well eventually lol.
