The Yankees are set to offer free-agent shortstop Derek Jeter a three-year, $45 million contract, according to a Sports Illustrated report.

A number of outlets have reported that Jeter wants a four or five-year deal.

He should accept this current offer because where else is he going to go? He's really not worth more than that based on his performance and his leadership qualities are a bit overrated.

Yeah he should accept this. This is the best offer he will get, so he might as well take it.

Retire as a Yankee.

The Yankees are reportedly ready to offer free-agent Derek Jeter a three-year, $45 million contract, which the shortstop is expected to decline and counter-offer.

Jeter, who will turn 37 in June, met with Yankees officials earlier this month in Tampa.

One report has suggested that Jeter will demand a five or six-year contract worth $20 million annually.
