Mets principal owner Fred Wilpon took pointed shots at some of his players in an extensive article in The New Yorker.

The embattled owner, who became ensnared in Bernard Madoff's Ponzi scheme and is now being sued for more than $1 billion by the trustee trying to recover funds for victims.

Wilpon took verbal jabs at the following players:

-- Jose Reyes will not be getting a super-huge contract from the Mets. "He thinks he's going to get Carl Crawford money," Wilpon says, referring to Crawford's seven-year, $142 million contract with the Red Sox. "He's had everything wrong with him. He won't get it."

-- Carlos Beltran, Wilpon mentions Beltran's huge postseason with the Astros in 2004 and says, referring to himself: "We had some schmuck in New York who paid him based on that one series. He's 65 to 70 percent of what he was."

-- David Wright, Wilpon said: "Really good kid. A very good player. Not a superstar."
Good job lol.

Wilpon telling it like it is, lol. Probably not the best manner of saying these things, but oh well. Maybe it will piss them off and make them play even better. You have to pretty much agree with everything that he has said in this Beltran isnt what he used to be, Reyes doesnt deserve a huge contract, moderate not huge, and Wright isnt a superstar.

Wrights a great player not a superstar, he cant carry his team like a select few players can, like Agon, Pujols, Votto, or A-rod.

You know he has been getting shit for that. Mainly because he it's true. lol. I'd rather have him be honest than sugar coat things. There isn't enough honesty sometimes.
