3:55pm: The sides agreed to a four-year, $56MM deal, according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today (on Twitter). The Nationals will obtain Chicago's 23rd overall pick in next year's draft for losing a Type A free agent after offering arbitration.

3:44pm: The deal is "basically done," according to Heyman (on Twitter). Peter Gammons of MLB Network confirms that it's a four-year, $56MM deal (Twitter link).

3:39pm: The White Sox and Dunn are closing in on a four-year, $56MM deal, according to Mike DiGiovanna of the LA Times. Several White Sox players believe Paul Konerko is also close to a deal with the White Sox, according to Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times (on Twitter).

3:22pm: The White Sox appear to be closing in on a deal for Dunn, according to Jon Heyman of SI.com (Twitter link).

2:35pm: White Sox GM Kenny Williams appears to have serious interest in free agent slugger Adam Dunn, tweets ESPN's Jerry Crasnick. Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle tweets that it sounds as if Dunn won't be signing with Oakland and "it is looking very much like the White Sox will wind up with Dunn."

Jon Paul Morosi of FOX Sports wrote today that barring a major payroll increase, the Sox can only afford two of Dunn, Paul Konerko, and Mark Buehrle. So, a Dunn signing could signal the end of Konerko's 12-year White Sox tenure, perhaps not long after they cut loose closer Bobby Jenks after six seasons.

Chicago's interest in Dunn dates back at least to the trade deadline. More recently, ESPN's Bruce Levine called them "serious bidders" on November 17th. Dunn is said to be seeking four years and $60MM.
Good for the Sox, get that really big bat they been looking for. As long as they can DH him for most of the games, he should really help the team, especially since US Cellular is a hitters park.

If he would have went anywhere outside of the AL Central I wouldn't have cared. But now this makes me upset Dumbrowski didn't try to grab him. <Censored> Avila, he better have an amazing season.

This is a good signing by the White Sox. Dunn has consistently hit 35+ HR's for like 8 years or so and he has a great OBP because he walks so much. He does strikeout a lot but you would expect that from a power hitter.

This man is the definition of consistent, he hit 40 HRs on the dot 5 years in a row and has hit 38 the past two years.

This is a great addition for the White Sox, Tigers are going to have their hands full, as aways.

What pisses me off most about this is it seems everytime a move is made, it's by a team in the AL Central. Tigers do something and then freaking White Sox decide to do this crap. Just another reason to hate the White Sox.

The White Sox didn't do this to respond to the Tigers, they've coveted Dunn for awhile, which is the sole reason they traded for Edwin Jackson because the Nats were interested in him. Then the Nats pulled a <Censored> move and decided they didn't want Jackson for Dunn.

Fuck Dumbrowski. Instead of signing him you let him going to a division rival.

jeez guys. calm down

Miggy, Victor is a lot of money.
both wont be playing the field every day the duration of their contracts
Dunn is awful defensively too.

cant have 3 DH types locked up to long term deals

now, if you're mad about having Vmart over Dunn, fine. thats another story

I never expected Tigers to get him. I just hate seeing him going to the White Sox. I ruled Dunn out once they signed V-Mart.

Adam Dunn and Paul Konerko is arguably the best power hitting combo in the league now. And one is lefty the other is righty. Going to be hard to pitch to them.

Konerko is probably not gonna re-sign with the Sox.

He's an FA?

EDIT: Well apparently he is, didn't read the article just knew they signed him.

Well then I wonder where he goes, really underrated player.
