like i said
this will be fine in 2012

it's beyond that where i question this deal

and 9 years? oh my goodness
Should be saying oh my goodness to the Pujols deal.
The length of the deal, I don't see that backfiring.

Cabby at Prince will be 1st and DH down the road. Until Victor is gone though, no choice but to do 3rd and 1st.

I would just get rid of Victor next season. He hasn't exactly been running with a clean bill of health as of late anyway and I don't see how you can't keep the DH spot open for one of Prince/Cabrera.

trust me, if I'm being objective, the Pujols deal makes me absolutely cringe
but since it's the Angels, it's awesome :p

Pujols and Prince really make me glad my team didnt have money this offseason. not at those prices

Well, .330 with 103 RBIs isn't something we are going to give away. I can tell you that much. Even if that means taking a hit defensively.

I wouldn't consider giving it away. If you're moving Prince or Cabrera to DH full time, I would just look at as a significant upgrade, which it is.

He's going to be 34 coming off a major ACL injury with tons of miles on him as a catcher. I don't see him ever being the same, but I could be wrong.

What's your point? They're both really good defensively..
My point: Give Cabrera a chance. You go on about how horrible the guy is at first (which isn't true) and don't even give him a chance at third, which I know will be harder. I'm going to at least give the guy a chance before I condemn the guy for it. If it doesn't work out, hopefully they have a backup plan, which is easily possible with DH. It very well may not work out, but I'm confident it will.

I didn't think he'd be as good as he was last year, and he was.
Think it would be foolish though to not utilize what he could possibly bring to the team, in addition to Prince and Miggy.
I think when Ilitch and Dombrowski got Prince, they thought beyond this year, and were excited with the idea of adding Victor into an already deadly mix.

“People don’t realize what kind of athleticism Miguel Cabrera still has if he puts his mind to it,” Boesch
told MLB Network Radio
. “If they say go play third base, the guy still has a ton of arm to do it. He’ll just have to dedicate himself and get back into shape where he can play third on a consistent basis.”

I'd completely agree with that.

I think the whole "expensive DH" argument is dumb. What else are you suppose to do in the AL? If you had to pay what you had to pay to get a bat like Prince, he isn't "overpaid" just because he is DHing.
Will still be in the lineup everyday.
I'd rather spend that kind of money on a 5 tool player than a guy who can only hit.

And hence why we are doing 1st and 3rd. So we aren't paying a DH that much money.

By mentioning two guys who have been 3rd baseman their entire career (Sandoval split time between first and 3rd his rookie year, but other then that, full time 3rd base), you're saying give Cabrera chance? That doesn't make any sense. This to me would be the equivalent of arguing that Paul Konerko could succeed at 3rd base. Common sense prevails.

And Cabrera isn't a fat lard with no athletic ability. He might not be fast like Pablo, but he does have some athleticism. And contrary to popular belief, made a lot of athletic plays at 1st in his tenure here.

I also think people underestimate Cabrera's athleticism as Boesch stated above, if he gets back in shape.

you guys are hardcore in denial lol

i have to see it to believe it

all i see is a dude who could barely bend down and who's body is older than his age

this third base experiment wont last long

cabrera as it is would be more prone to injury than other bigger 3b's like Youk and ARod

You clearly don't catch many Tigers games then if that is your assumption of Miguel lol.
I'm not saying it will work. I'm saying it could work, and I see no reason why it can't. Is it a guarantee it will? No, some things have to happen for it to work (like Miguel getting in better shape). But to say it wont work based on 0 games is just foolish.

I understand 5 tool players don't grow on trees but considering how big the dude is, 9 years is pretty ridiculous. 5 years IMO would have been a reasonable length but for a guy whos fat (which obviously leads to health problems in the future) and a bad defender, 9 years is too long.
