Twins news aside, this has been a pretty slow news day. But here’s the third Marlins post I have today, so at least we know Miami is alive. Anyway:

Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports that the Marlins have been in contact with Jose Reyes, and may have been talking to him since the moment free agents became truly free last week. Mike Francesa of WFAN said today that the Marlins have already made an offer, but then again, he says a lot of things. Nothing appears imminent.

Obviously Reyes to Miami would be a major change for everyone involved. Including Hanley Ramirez, who would suddenly be looking at a different position.
The Marlins seem to be in on everyone. Jose Reyes. Yoenis Cespedes. Heck, there are even multiple reports out there that they’re going to get into the Albert Pujols/Prince Fielder game. Next up, though: Mark Buehrle. Ken Rosenthal reports that the Marilins will meet with him today.

Buehrle would certainly help a Marlins rotation that, those big names above aside, is what Miami needs to focus on most, but it’s unclear that the Buehrle wants to actually, you know, go there. Yes, Ozzie Guillen is the manager Buehrle has known for the last eight seasons, but he’s also from Missouri and it’s been widely suggested that he wants to go to St. Louis. Of course, that’s sort of up to St. Louis, and there hasn’t been any suggestion as of yet that they’re interested.

Anyway, heady times for the Marlins who have basically been mentioned in connection with all of the major free agents in the past week.

Lmao @ the Marlins getting Reyes. Lets be realistic, they dont have the money to pay Reyes, and if they did their owner is too cheap to pay him.

The Marlins got in trouble last year/a few seasons ago for not spending enough when they've had the funds to do so. They're being forced to spend money and they have plenty of it to pay Reyes and basically anybody they want.
