The St. Louis Blues gambled in last summer's draft by drafting highly talented Russian Vladimir Tarasenko, although it was unclear whether he would make the jump to the NHL. But sources tell TrueHockey.comt's Andy Strickland that, after the season, Tarasenko will be able to buyout the last year of his KHL deal and sign a contract with the Blues.

But for those who aren't quite as patient: It's also possible that we'll see Tarasenko in the AHL this season. He could come over on a professional tryout, if his KHL season ends early enough.

Tarasenko has always said that he plans to come to North America next season, but there's always been some speculation that he could end up staying another year or two. Some scouts believe he's ready to contribute in the NHL immediately once he comes over, which will affect the Blues' offseason plans.
