1. I can't because I don't recall anyone doing that.

2. HE DID NOT EXCEED EXPECTATIONS. And here is why: Before Strasburg was even called up, before we even KNEW when he would be pitching first, they said on Baseball Tonight "When Strasburg gets called up, he is expected to immediately rank among the top 5 pitchers in the MLB."

and you know what, <Censored> it. I'm going to pull the same <Censored>....

"R.A. Dickey of the New York Mets has been phenomenal thus far for the Amazins. He has easily exceeded all expectations and has now won 6 straight starts for the Mets. While he may not be a powerful pitcher, certainly his Knuckleball would be a change of pace and throw off hitters in the All-Star Game. It sounds stupid, but he has proven MENTALLY he can handle it. In 6 starts with the Mets, Dickey is 6-0 with a 2.33 ERA. In 46 innings he has allowed just 2 home runs, and has walked only 14 batters. What's even more impressive, is Dickey has proven he can handle hitters on the tough ball clubs like the Philadelphia Phillies and Detroit Tigers. Dickey certainly makes a case to be a pitcher in the All-Star game."
RA Dickey? No one gives a <Censored> about RA Dickey.. Part of the reason Strasburg would be in because this is for the fans and the fans want to see Strasburg.

I don't watch Baseball tonight, so I don't care what they said.. No one expected him to come up here and do what he has done, and anyone who says they did, is clearly lying.. Except for maybe Schilling who said he was the best pitcher in Baseball before he was even called up, but he certainly has the stuff to be that.

That is the dumbest thing I have ever heard.

I JUST PROVED that people and analysts said before he was even caleld up, that he would rank among the top 5 pitchers in the MLB -- which you claim he is now. And then right after I say that you say "no one expected him to come up here and do what he has done."

I just said that people expected him to be one of the best in the game IMMEDIATELY.

Make up my mind? All I said is he exceeded what he was suppose to do so far, and the fact that this is an exhibition and people want to see Strasburg.. Don't know why you are getting so angry over an exhibition.. Fans vote for who makes this thing, its for the fans. The only reason it decides home field is because Selig is an idiot and wants more people to watch it.

And I'm sure I could find people who said he would start his career walking everyone and last 4-5 innings a start..

You're getting so worked up over this because he could take a spot over Pelfry..

I don't even think Pelfrey belongs in it...

Jimenez
Halladay
Josh Johnson
Adam Wainwright
Chris Carpenter

that's the 5 I would want in there.

And I'm pretty sure I read some where that they are expanding the all-star rosters.. Each team gets 13 pitchers. Who knows if he'll pitch, I wouldn't mind him pitching if I was the NL Manager, but there is enough room for him to make it.

Ok, so I'll just assume that its 7 starters, 6 relievers.

Jimenez
Halladay
Wainwright
Johnson
Carpenter
Pelfrey
Cain

Wagner
Broxton
B. Wilson
K-Rod
Bell
Rhodes -- Not a closer, but I'd rather see a guy with a sub-1 ERA, who is used to being a reliever, who has 13 holds this season.

I'm guessing it would be 8 and 5 and anyway like I said, this still all depends on his last few starts up till the all-star game. If he continues to out out there and dominate then you put him in.

I'll agree with you on that -- if he continues to perform as well as he has then I'm ok with putting him in... it just angers me that after 4 starts the question has been popping up.

it was a good battle between the two of us though haha.

The question came up after 4 starts because its a realistic chance he can make it if he continues to pitch well.

This is really interesting lol

First of all, I don't want to see Strasburg in there personally because he just got into the league but overall, it would be a good move for the league since his marketability is hella high

I think there are more deserving pitchers

I fully expect him to be in Anaheim, and I sure hope so.

Dont they let the fans vote for the extra spot?
if he's on the list, he's in for sure. I remember Liriano getting that vote his rookie year, so I think they have pitchers available

and remember, the new all-star rules state that a pitcher who pitches on the Sunday before the ASG, will be replaced
Im sure a number of teams will use this as a loophole so their franchise guy isnt used in an exhibition
and that'll eventually lead to replacements, and Stras will be on the depth chart

and this is just coincidental i think, but Strasburg's last start, is the Thursday before the game. Meaning that Tuesday, would be his next game anyways

hmmmm

He should go to the All-Star game.. Who cares what teams he has faced.. And actually, the Royals rank 14th in Runs scored, and they rank #1 in batting average.

The all-star game is for the fans, and fans want to see him, with his stuff he can pitch against anyone.
Team batting average is a flawed statistic. Mets were #2 in batting average and had one of the worst offenses last year and finished last in home runs.

What I hate about how people hate on Strasburg is "he pitched against duddy teams". Does it matter? they ar still major leaguers, it's like saying if someone threw a no-hitter against the Pirates, would it still be a no-hitter? Does it still deserve great recognition? Yes. The y are still big leaguers and are getting paid MILLIONS of dollars because of their baseball skills. Should he go to the all star game? Maybe. Does he deserve it more than Chris Carpenter or Mike Leake? No. Would you want him if you're playing to win? Yes. But you've got to remember, they are playing for WS home field advantage, so they may take Strasburg.
