Steelers coach Mike Tomlin has formally tabbed Dennis Dixon as his starting quarterback for Week 1.
Dixon won't have an especially long leash with Charlie Batch also a viable option, but it's refreshing to see Tomlin avoid what would've been an overwhelmingly conservative decision in going with Batch. The Steelers will go run heavy until Ben Roethlisberger returns after the Week 5 bye, so don't expect big passing numbers from Dixon. He'll generate enough rushing yardage to still qualify as a worthwhile fantasy start in two-QB leagues. Sep. 6 - 3:57 pm et
Glad for Dixon to finally get his chance to shine. In the Denver game, he wasn't impressive, but times like the Ravens game last year -- we saw what he can do.
