Sources: Nationals Want To Trade For Elite Starter

The Washington Nationals are looking to trade for an elite starting pitcher, according to sources.
That desire has linked them to David Price and Max Scherzer.

Washington general manager Mike Rizzo drafted Scherzer while he was with the Arizona Diamondbacks back in 2006. The cost for Scherzer will likely be lower. He is under contract through the 2014 season, while Price is under contract for two years.

For now, sources say the Detroit Tigers are in "listening, not shopping" mode.

Similar to when JV, before his new contract. Of what it'd be like if he hit free agency, and how he said it would be nice to have teams fighting over him, or something along those lines, and that was put to bed shortly after it started. I see no real rush to get anything done with Scherzer, but I see it getting done. I can understand the conversation about it. With the deep rotation in Detroit, it wouldn't put them in disaster mode with him gone, but it would make a big difference.

i think it would because if jv really is starting the decline we can use max, a lot. but i also see the business side to this.
