It appears as though 2011 was a lost year for Jason Heyward, who had a shoulder injury that first popped up the year before.

He compensated because of the injury and produced ground balls at an alarming rate.

Heyward remained patient at the plate, but the swing change meant he wasn't driving balls as often as he did in his rookie season.

Have you played baseball before? If your struggling with a shoulder injury you're not going to be able to drive the ball nearly as well as before. And then when you try and compensate for the injury by changing your mechanics you develop bad habits.

What does my statement have to do with playing baseball? Lol.....

Obviously youre not going to play baseball as well when you have a shoulder injury because you cant create the torque necessary to drive the ball. The point is this shouldnt be brought up AFTER the fact that he played the season. It was so serious, he wouldve gone on the DL, but he didnt. He's basically using it as an excuse for why he played badly.

If he wouldve mentioned it during the season it wouldve been a different story.

Nobody wants to miss games, and nobody is going to make excuses for themselves. Especially when you're fighting for the playoffs all year.

This shoulder injury was public info during the middle of the season. It's not like it just came up today.
