@AdamSchefter Filed to ESPN: two sides agreed to new Rookie Pay System. Still i's to dot, t's to cross on rookie system, but it's not impediment to deal.

Progess! Getting closer, I can smell it.

According to ESPN's Sal Paolantonio, a settlement of the NFL's collective bargaining agreement is now on the "fast track."
NFL Network's Albert Breer hears Thursday will be a late night of ongoing talks, with 12 hours already in the books. At the current pace, ESPN's Chris Mortensen estimates a final agreement could be reached in 24-48 hours. Two hurdles have been cleared with the rookie salary scale and arbitration system overhauled. Still on the agenda: retirees benefits and this year's free agency rules. The best guess on the latter is a three-day exclusive negotiating window with no rights of first refusal.

Closer than you think.

I wonder what the pay scale actually looks like.

Glad they finally got this though.. Now we don't have to deal with rookies holding out for months looking for record breaking deals.

Like I've said numerous times, it's nice to just see some true progress but in reality, there is just too much money to be lost at both ends for a deal not to get done.

Which is what kam said since day 1.

BC has always been the one saying we're going to lose games.

It's just fucking common sense. How can these owners and players ultimately just watch that money go to waste? Quick answer. They can't....

They lose like 200 million dollars if they just miss the first week of preseason.. Pretty obvious.

Not to the people that actually thought/think that this league was going to lock-out clearly... lol

Yeah I've been saying this since the beginning too.

I'm not so optimistic about the NBA lockout though.

So the new news is this.

Once the Lockout if finished by tuesday, then the league will give teams 3 days to sign Their own Free Agents. FA will either start on Saturday or Monday.. Depending on if teams wait until the weekend is over.

Filed to NFL Network: Outside of some ancillary details, the economics of a deal between the players and owners are done.

There are still plenty of other hoops for the sides to jump through, and important issues like the Legacy Fund, player safety left to cover.

But getting the finances to the right place is, of course, a pretty big deal. It seems they've done that.

The longer story ... RT @nfl: Players, owners reach agreement on economics of deal, per @albertbreer: http://bit.ly/mP0Mu5

For those wondering on the revenue split, the macro issue in all this, it will land initially between 47 and 48 percent

This is so close, I just can't wait for it to be official that we are going to have an NFL season.

Some Texans lineman said on ESPN First a couple of weeks ago that the lock out would end on July 15th. We have a potential prophet on our hands.
