rios, prince will be getting a ton of money too...
I'm sure he will, just my opinion on who should be the top 5 top players, or at least in the top 5. Actually I'd add Lincecum in there but those guys are up there. I basically just did hitters.

right when you thought the Phillies were smart after getting rid of Lee and getting Halladay... they pay up way too much.

I understand he's a big power hitter -- he's like what? 30 years old, in his prime. He'll crank out 40, drive in well over 100 RBIs, but he strikes out TOO much. I understand power hitters strike out a lot but holy <Censored>, he strikes out too much.

he's basically going to be getting $25M when he's 37 -- do you REALLY think he's going to be that valuable then? He won't, and this deal is not good in my opinion. I think it's a stupid resigning because I personally think a guy like Utley is more valuable, especially with the lack of talent at that position and the ridiculous amount of talent at 1B.

anyhow, my top 5 in terms of salary should be:

Pujols
Mauer
Teixeira
Lincecum
Felix Hernandez

and I'm talking long-term, because obviously Felix isn't worth a ton of money now, but long-term he's worth that kind of money.

^ Exactly my thoughts. He's not great enough to be making over $20M

You guys arent giving Ichiro enough credit, best leadoff hitter in the league. Excellent defense with a cannon of an arm, hes won numerous GG's. And he's a great clubhouse guy.

Yeah, age is a big factor, that speed should die here in the next two-to-three years.

yeah -- by that logic we'd have to put Vlad Guerrero on the list as well.

This creates a problem for us, since now we have to give Big Al more than that, and resign carpenter, and wainwright next year.

YAY!
we lose at least one of them
