Ryan Howard will remain in a Philadelphia Phillies uniform through the 2016 season after agreeing to a five-year extension worth an average of $25 million per year.

The slugging first baseman has agreed to a $125 million extension that will kick in starting with the 2012 season. If the team picks up its option for the 2017 season, Howard could earn $138 million.
Damn that's a lot of money.

Yeah. That's a large amount of money. Considering that they have a few more players to re-sign.

He strikes out way too much to get that kind of money, that's Pujols money right there, maybe even more than Pujols money. I still think Howard is a great power hitter though.

I actually think its a good contract for him. He is one of the premier hitters in the league and power hitters are going to strike out a lot, thats the baggage that comes with it. You can put in 40 HR's and 120 RBI's for that guy which is very impressive.

no, that's less than Pujols money. If Albert signs for less than $30 million a year, I'll be surprised.

The $25 million guaranteed average salary in the extension will be baseball's second-highest behind Alex Rodriguez's $27.5 million average under a 10-year contract with the Yankees running through 2017.
I don't think he is that worthy of being the 2nd most paid player in MLB. Neither should A-Rod be first LOL.
