Parker said the Tigers contacted the Astros about Oswalt over the weekend and are apparently willing to make a deal for the right-handed ace.

And, if Oswalt – who said he wants to be dealt to a contending team – agrees to come to Detroit, 97.1 The Ticket morning host Mike Stone said the Tigers should do what it takes to acquire the 32-year-old three-time All-Star.

Fortunately for Dombrowski, an overcrowded outfield in their farm system provides him with a few trading chips. Outfield prospects Wilkin Ramirez, Casper Wells and Ryan Strieby could be considered trade bait. Outfielders Clete Thomas and Ryan Raburn might also soon find themselves on the trading block, too.

Stone even suggested Tigers hot-hitting rookie Brennan Boesch could possibly be dealt before the non-waiver trading deadline, too.

Yes it would, Oswalt, Verlander, and Porcello on the same staff isn't even fair.

Thats just a 1-2 punch.. Porcello is pretty irrelevant right now.

i wouldn't say "unfair"
Twins would probably still be favorites

Well..
a) We almost made the playoffs basically on a 1-2 punch last year, and Oswalt is much better than Jackson.
b) Porcello is starting to pick it up for sure, shut down the hottest team in the league (Dodgers) in his last outing.
c) The back end of our rotation this year is much better than it was last year.

*no Furcal, no Manny, no Ethier

in other words, no #1, #3, #4 hitters

and the back end sucks Rip. DTrain blows, Galarraga blows, Bonderman has been ok i guess though with the exception of 1 miserable outing that f'd up his ERA

It doesn't suck. They are getting the job done, they aren't suppose to be amazing.
Verlander - Oswalt - Porcello - Willis - Bonderman I think would be better than what the Twins throw out there.

Their ERA's might be a tad high, but they don't have many losses which means they are putting us in situations to win.

Indeed, but once we get Guillen back and if this were to happen, I honestly believe we'd be a better team that the Twins.

only thing that worries me about the Tigers is the young players
those guys are going to go in mean slumps pretty soon.

Jackson and Boesch mainly

and i really dont like Galarraga or Willis, and Porcello has been way too inconsistent

Can just assume they will go into a slump lol. They've really shown no signs of potentially going into one, so you can't just say they will lol.

Porcello has been pitching pretty well though, I mean he got his ERA down from 8 to 5.5. He will be fine, he is too good not to be.
And Galarraga has only made 2 starts so it's not like you can judge him yet, had one great start and one bad start. And IDK why you hate on Willis so much lol. He's pitched pretty well. He gets like 0 run support or he'd had a few wins.

Jackson was in a slump before game 1 of the Dodger series, and then he got hit in the head and will miss some games

Boesch has slump written all over him.

Neither are in slumps nor look like they will slump anytime soon. But ok ;]

The way both of them swing the bat won't allow them to hit a slump.
