Mattias Ohlund, who hasn't played this season due to a knee injury, reportedly needs surgery and could miss significant time.
ESPN.com's Pierre LeBrun is reporting that Ohlund will have operations on both knees Tuesday and is out indefinitely. The St. Petersburg Times' Damian Christodero is reporting he was told by Lightning coach Guy Boucher that Ohlund is line for a knee surgery that could sideline him for at least a month.
Ohlund, 35, had just 5 assists and a minus-7 rating in 72 games last season, but had 3 points and a plus-5 rating in 18 playoff games as the Lightning advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals. Ohlund and Victor Hedman formed the team's top defense pairing.
Taken by the Vancouver Canucks with the 13th pick of the 1994 Entry Draft, Ohlund has 93 goals and 343 points in 909 NHL games.
