Thats whats crazy. You can be the best GM in the world, if your player has a crush on another dude you're fucked.

4 unprotected, 1 protected, 2 pick swaps .. crazy

Man, does this suck. I was really hoping he'd run it back with Toronto. Toronto will be happy with their first championship, but I think this might prevent teams from doing that kind of trade ever again. They now have a firsthand example of an entire organization providing everything and more to a player and he still leaves. At least he didn't go to the Lakers.

Here's to hoping Pascal Siakam takes another step so Toronto still has something of a shot in the East. I doubt it, but if he can get that much better in one year, he can certainly take a few steps this coming season, too.

Is Oklahoma City simply conceding that they aren't going to win a championship with Russ at this point? They might as well just trade him, too. Time for a clean slate, but you would think such a small market would run the risk of putting their franchise under.

Why would the example of winning a championship stop teams from making that trade again? Everything played out exactly as they had hoped for. They knew the risk of him leaving going into it...

Because one championship followed by an immediate rebuild is a tough pill to swallow.

Championships over everything. 90% of the league would take that one banner, even if it meant they're a lottery team 4 straight years after that.

Sure itd be nice to build a team with sustained success, but I trust Masai. He knows what he's doing. Besides, Toronto still has an up and comer in Pascal to build on so it's not like they have nothing to look forward to for a while.

Because a Derozan/Lowry future looks so much more enticing

Swing for the fences. If you can get a title, who cares what happens after. Raps were gonna rebuild anyways, and now they have a championship to show future FAs what its like when Toronto wins it all
