Cano representing. Was surprised to see Alexei Ramirez on here but I can't think of any other SS who actually hit in the AL this year.

Lol, I didn't even realize there was a Silver Slugger Award for Pitchers

Nice to see Vlady win though, nice comeback season for him.

You know a position sucks when Alexei Ramriez wins the Silver Slugger with a .282/.313/.431 line. LOL

Twill what is your problem with the Rex Sox. At least I admit the Yankees are good. You act like the should be playing Women's Softball.

Cabby! Not that i'm surprised. No real surprises here. AL SS was pretty much a toss up.

Zim was better, plain and simple

better AVG, OBP, SLG, and OPS
4 less HR in 15 less games
only 5 less hits in 15 less games

he was more productive

David Wright plays a much critical role in the Mets lineup as opposed to Zimmerman in the Nationals lineup. The Nationals lineup was significantly better than the Mets as well so Wright had no protection at all. Wright also plays in a more pitcher friendly ballpark. Wright also had a lot more RBI's than Zimmerman. Its not David Wrights fault he played more games, hes more consistent when it comes to health as well. Just look at Wrights stats when he has actually good hitters around him and you will see that Wright is the better player.

Zimmerman prolly deserved it this year, but I expect Wright to start reclaiming those Silver Sluggers pretty soon with a healthy Jason Bay and Carlos Beltran.

Nats significantly better?
im looking at the numbers, they're pretty close FPS

now, sure the Nats also had Dunn, and Willingham to help protect Zim, but Angel Pagan was great, Ike Davis was pretty solid, Joe Reyes was a lot better this year, Jason Bay was meh when he played, but he wasnt putrid

rbi's?
dont start with the rbi argument
James Loney had more rbi's than Prince Fielder
just means he had more opportunity, same with Zim and Wright

you're right, Zimmerman deserved it this year and you may also be right in saying David Wright will be recapturing th awards again

as for the pitchers park, Citi is obviously larger, but its only a pitchers park in terms of homers. wright has more opportunity for doubles and triples, that lead to rbi's that ZIm doesnt have

First of all, Pagan was pretty good. Not great, but no one on the Mets hit above .300 BA or had 100 RBI's except for Wright. Ike Davis was in his rookie year and batted in every spot imaginable. Jose Reyes was better, but a dissapointment none the less based upon his previous seasons. And Jason Bay was awful, no way around that. Due to the fact that Citi field is a pitchers park, David Wright would hit more home runs in the Nationals ballpark which would lead to an even greater difference between power numbers. Wright is also a lot faster on the basepaths since he will steal about 20 or so more SB's than Zimmerman. When we look at OPS+, we see that they are actually much similar than what the numbers tell us with Zimmerman having .11 better OPS+. As for the RBI's argument its obvious that Wright is going to have more RBI's because he creates them more with his power numbers. And if we analyze it solely on the baserunners that each player had we can determine that Wright had a higher percentage in terms of baserunners scoring during his at bats, Wright had 18% and Zimmerman had 16%.
