GREEN BAY, Wis. -- It's a new season but the same old problem for the Green Bay Packers: Pro Bowl safety Nick Collins was ruled out for the season on Monday because of a neck injury, a continuation of the wave of injuries the team dealt with on its run to the Super Bowl.

Collins was carried off the field on a stretcher after sustaining a frightening neck injury in the fourth quarter of Green Bay's victory at Carolina on Sunday. Collins spent the night in the hospital and returned to Green Bay on Monday afternoon to meet with the team's medical staff.

Packers coach Mike McCarthy said Collins was present for a team meeting Monday, wearing a neck brace but otherwise in good spirits.
That is rough. Although this defense is deep enough to overcome that. Gotta be worried but not too much.

Damn there have been a lot of big players in the NFL that are seriously injured.

This really hurts the Packers D... He was one of their best players and safety isnt their best position.

Packers defense has been getting killed as of the first two games, this surely won't help matters.

Darren Sharper back for a second stint with Green Bay? I think so. He'd be a great guy to bring back for the fans, he's already a fan favorite here, and he's still a good player as well. Coming off a pretty bad injury, but Sharper knows how to get himself ready for football. If the doctors have cleared him (which they have), then signing him would be a good move. Go get him GB!
