The NFL Players Association is in the process of blocking prospects from attending next month's NFL draft in New York.
The NFLPA has already contacted at least 17 top prospects and "informed them not to go" to Radio City Music Hall if they receive invitations to the April 28-30 draft. So when the No. 1 overall pick is announced, Roger Goodell would not hand him his jersey as is custom. It would continue to create an awkward feel in the football community. "As of right now, this is 100 percent happening," one source told ESPN's Adam Schefter. "This is going down."
And so it continues..

Who cares lol. I don't mind if I don't see someone get a jersey and say they are number one.

I don't see this happening. It may not mean alot to us, but alot of these guys who are going to get invites have been waiting to get up on that stage their entire lives.

It's unfortunate that these clowns are using these kids as pawns in their greedy little scheme. Don't deprive these guys of their moment because of your selfish reasons.

Was watching NFL Live before and Mark Schlereth (sp?) put it perfectly. Said that this is a moment for not only the player, but his family too and brought up how his son was a 1st rounder in the MLB draft and that it was huge for his whole family

Not really. I don't see how that is going to change his draft stock tbh. He'll be a lock for the top five, guaranteed, still.

From what I hear, the NFLPA is denying this report and saying they didn't say anything of the sort.

Peterson said no one said anything to him. He plans on going to NY and participating in the draft.

read something that kind of Supports the original story but also kinda shows how the story is flawed.

I was reading in the NY Post this mornin (i'm old school - i buy the paper each morning lol) and they said that what the NFLPA really is trying to do is set up their own 'event' at a Hotel right down the road from Radio City Music Hall. And basically there would be current NFL players invited to the event and the Prospects would be there as well. When the Commissioner announces the draft pick, the veteran players at the Hotel will congratulate their new teammate and hand him a team hat and shake his hand and all the players will cheer him on, etc. And it would all be televised on another network.

Seems like a pretty legit idea. Wouldn't be the same obviously, but kind of a cool idea to be able to shake the hands of several of your teammates seconds after you are drafted.
