5 Overrated Teams That Won't Live Up to Hype in 2011
There are a ton of NFL teams that people won’t stop talking about this offseason who simply don’t deserve that much credit. These teams are all hype and won’t perform up to the level that all the talking heads and commentators think they will.

Every year teams make some moves in the offseason and all of the sudden they are talked about as Super Bowl favorites.

Last year, the Bengals and Vikings were preseason darlings, and look how that turned out. Both teams finished at the bottom of their divisions and missed the playoffs.

Let’s take a look at five preseason pretenders that will have everyone talking Super Bowl runs eating their words.

No. 5 – Philadelphia Eagles

The ‘Dream Team’ Philadelphia Eagles are certainly the most hyped team in the NFL after their flurry of offseason moves. They have the best chance of anyone on this list to actually make a Super Bowl, but it all rests on Michael Vick’s shoulders. KC Joyner pointed out that Vick was the luckiest QB in the NFL last season, throwing just 6 INTs but 25 Near Interceptions. If even a third of those close-calls were turnovers, the Eagles would probably not have made the playoffs.

No. 4 – New York Jets

Just like their opinionated and cocky coach, Jets’ fans are convinced their team is the best again this season. They replaced their No. 2 wide out with a guy who just left prison a few months ago and think that the production will still be there. Wrong, Plaxico Burress will be a bust. They also will be facing a re-tooled Patriots’ pass rush that is gunning for Mark Sanchez. Their running game could blow up as well if LaDainian Tomlinson decides to succumb to age and wear’n’tear this season.

No. 3 – Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs won a terribly weak AFC West last season and made it back to the postseason for the first time in years. The San Diego Chargers are a better team and the Oakland Raiders will give them a run for their money again this year. There is no chance of KC making the playoffs, especially with Charlie Weis out of town and Matt Cassel in an unfamiliar offense.

No. 2 – Houston Texans

Everyone is ranting and raving about this new Houston Texans defense. They added one guy who has never made a Pro Bowl, Johnathan Joseph, and Danieal Manning, an All-Pro for kick returning, to their secondary. This is not going to fix a team that was last in the league in passing yards allowed. Wade Philips has never won big anywhere in his career and won’t change the defense as much as people think he will.

No. 1 – Green Bay Packers

The Packers are preseason Super Bowl favorites. I just don’t think this makes sense considering they barely made it into the postseason last year. They seem reminiscent of the Patriots after winning the 2001 Super Bowl, and could easily miss the playoffs this year. They shocked the world by winning and will need a season to shake off the hangover and get competitive again. They also made no big free agent additions to a team that certainly could have used some depth.

I'd agree with this.

Eagles - Have to see them perform on the field, before knowing exactly what they can do. They look great on paper, but they'll have to perform.

Jets - Even though they want to believe it, they didn't do that great in the off-season. They missed out on the big guy they wanted, and they lost Braylon, who was one of their main targets.

Chiefs - This one could be an either or. They have some expectations now, but I don't think they are all that overrated just yet. They play in a very weak division, in which any team can basically win it, year in year out. Not a lot of pressure there.

Texans - Seem to always have a lot of promise, and they finally improved their defense, but like the Eagles, they'll have to prove it on the field. Like you hear guys say about them. They have a 14-2 offense, and a 2-14 defense.

Packers - Basically have to repeat to live up to expectations. So they have the hardest to live up to, and easiest expectations to fall short of.

Plaxico isn't going to bust and LT diminishing isn't a big deal whatsoever considering he's pretty much just our 3DRB.

I didn't expect everyone to like it and I surely didn't expect people to like it with their individual teams involved in it.
