Well, let's just say it's been one heck of a fun draft this year. So much depth. I hope I can share with you guys, some of my most shocking/important/favourite parts of the past two days.

Reaches in the Teen's:

Well, needless to say there was some shocking events early. A lot of scouts had been high on Alualu, especially from the Senior Bowl workouts. With that being said, the Jaguars took for sure a huge gamble on a guy who may have been avaliable in the later 20's moving back out. As well, the emergence of the Chargers moving up to snag their guy in Matthews really puzzled me. Not the fact they obviously targeted the running back replacement for their former corner-stone, but the fact in which they hopped over the Fresno State product at 13 after a swap with Miami. I do believe that Houston would have fully considered Matthews to pair and tandem with Steve Slaton (after they went out and got pounding Ben Tate from Auburn) but regardless, they did give up a lot to move up, but they got their guy at the end of the day.

Tim Tebow:

Alright. I just want the one member on here to read this, who doubted it, who said Tebow would NOT be a first rounder and enjoy this post. :) He knows who he is. With that being said, do I still think Tebow warranted this first round grade? No I really don't. Tebow is one of my favourite players coming out, ever in the draft. He has the heart, passion and dedication but truly you can't honestly feel comfortable at this current point in time with handling the snaps all the time at the quarterback position. McDaniels didn't surprise me making this move... he has done a lot of head-scratching things as his time running the show with the Broncos, but there were numerous rumors of a team like Buffalo especially, moving to get Tebow late in round one, just the Broncos got the upper hand. It's going to be fun to see what happens, and how they play to incorporate Tim into the offense.

The Oakland Raiders Draft

Some people must just get the same sick thrill I do when I watch the draft, and I see the Raiders make that dumb pick and reach on a guy because of his physical abilities. Well. I can full out say this year, the Raiders had a very well thought out plan and they went and got important pieces that can add to that football team. McClain is one hell of a instinctive linebacker, who can be a vocal leader in your defense for years to come. As well, the kid from Texas who might just be one of the best gap stuffer and underrated picks in the draft, with LaMarr Houston. Houston has clearly been overshadowed in a draft that offers oodles of defensive tackle talent, but he displayed consistent ability all throughout this past season at Texas, and especially strutted his stuff in the National Championship.

Underrated/Overlooked Selections

Well, everyone is going to clearly feel different about these selections. The obvious picks, which I will state I feel the teams got excellent value with (Clausen going to the Panthers and McCoy going super late to the Browns). However, some overlooked players that I have always had a great liking for are Spivey and Sanders. Spivey going to the Lions is an excellent pick, again, because of the outpouring of corner talent, he becomes overlooked. He has outstanding read and react skills and if groomed properly can be a damn good corner on the outside for the Lions. As well, Emmanuel Sanders, the speedster out of SMU who the Steelers snagged in the third round may be one of the most intriguing picks in the draft. With the departure of Santonio Holmes and the question mark who is Limas Sweed, the Steelers got one of the most exciting wide-outs in the draft with Sanders. Add to the combination of deadly and lethal Mike Wallace, the Steelers are building a nice aerial attack.

I didn't think Tebow should be a 1st, but I was more saying not 7th overall to the Browns like someone else said lol.

Cool writeup.

And don't forget, Raiders 3rd round pick T Jared Veldheer. He's 6'8 and never allowed a sack in his collegiate career. (It was a small college)

Right. It was a quick write-up, so, ha. But yes, he is truly an interesting guy. I know for a fact a lot of Colt fans felt he could be a nice help for the OL, but the Raiders went out and got him early.
