The Marlins have a standing contract offer to first baseman Albert Pujols.

The deal is believed to be for nine years with a competitive average annual value of around $25 million. That would make the overall value of the contract at least $225 million, which is more than the Cardinals reportedly offered the first baseman prior to the 2011 season.

The Marlins are starting to see that they dont have a franchise player to promote when they open up their new stadium. Just look at what they think about Hanley, they are willing to move him to 3B to accomodate another player. At to the fact that Hanley had an awful season and his lack of effort at times to run out plays, you can see why they are trying to find someone like Pujols.

I dont think Pujols will go to the Marlins though, he understands that they are not close to becoming a contender with the pitching they currently have. But who knows, maybe Pujols is all about the money but I dont think so.
