Just last week, we heard from Florida head coach Billy Donovan that he was content to stay signed on with the Gators for the foreseeable future, despite having some conversations with NBA teams about openings. Today, on Dan Patrick’s radio show, Sports Illustrated NBA reporter Chris Mannix sang a different tune. Mannix believes that if the Cleveland Cavaliers, who reportedly are looking at bringing in a college coach, want Donovan, he’ll bolt north.

Mannix cites two reasons. One – Donovan lost a number of great players from last year’s team. Two – he’d have a hard time passing up the opportunity to build something from the ground up in Cleveland.
As we’ve noted before, Donovan has flirted with the NBA – even taking the Orlando Magic job back in 2007 before backing out. It should be an interesting summer in Gainesville if he’s really entertaining the idea.
