Free agent Kerry Collins is retiring from the NFL after 16 seasons.
It's time. Widely misread by analysts as a solid QB the past couple of seasons, an immobile and often scattershot Collins managed a meager 2-11 record compared to Vince Young's 12-6 mark over the same span. Collins compiled 40,441 yards and a 206:195 TD-to-INT ratio in a fascinating career that began with alcoholism and accusations of quitting on his team in Carolina. The rifle-armed veteran found redemption several years later in leading the Giants to the Super Bowl. Collins' retirement is welcome news for Titans fans, as it should lead to a more aggressive pursuit of Matt Hasselbeck or Donovan McNabb.

Not a big shock, he is definitely up there in years and the drafting of Jake Locker basically reaffirmed that as the Titans have to move on at some point. It'll be interesting to see what kind of veteran QB they target to groom Locker and make his transition to eventually start for this team.
