Jaguars sign run-stopper Jackson, place McDaniel on IR

Associated Press

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Jaguars signed defensive tackle Grady Jackson to a one-year contract on Wednesday and placed defensive tackle Tony McDaniel on injured reserve.
Jacksonville Jaguars

Jackson, a 6-foot-2, 350-pound run-stopper who led the league with 13 tackles for a loss last season, started the first seven games for Atlanta before his surprising release last week.

He had 21 tackles, including 5 1/2 for losses, and one sack this season. The 11-year veteran had started 22 of 23 games since joining the Falcons as an unrestricted free agent before the 2006 season.

Jackson filed a lawsuit against the Falcons during the offseason, claiming defamation and invasion of privacy caused by the release of his medical records. Jackson claimed the release of the report that he failed a physical last summer hurt his value as a free agent.

The two sides settled before training camp.

Jackson could give the Jaguars depth along the defensive line. McDaniel injured his wrist against Indianapolis on Oct. 22 and did not play Sunday at Tampa Bay.

Good move by the Jags, add even more strength to an already strong D-line.

they've got the best D-line in the league by far IMO.

I think I posted update to this in Grady Jackson cut by Falcons thread... but, this gives a bit more detail... definitely a good replacement for Marcus Stroud while he's suspended
