Any time you can promote from within from a historically awful regime you gotta do it.

Smith would have been a fine hire for them. He's not a great coach but he can straighten that team out and make them respectable again. Hiring Marrone just shows that you're not willing to give up on what clearly hasn't been working.

They clearly think Gus was the problem

From Week 3 until his firing, Bortles had one game with 300 yards passing. Bradley gets fired, and Blake puts up b2b 300+ yd games

i don't love marrone but they could have done worse

He's bad but he wasn't the only problem. Since they've began this rebuild they've missed on the Coach, GM, and QB. Only one of those three isn't coming back next year.
