That's my question.  Why has gfx gone south?  I own a site that was one of the biggest Gaming Gfx/rendering forums out there and the whole niche died.  What happened?

more and more people stopped needing other people to make them graphics or renders and the majority of the people(at least from here and the other two sites) do graphics on a professional level now so they're more than likely busy.

i know i stopped because i stopped using my laptop as much.

I went to University to study Graphic Design because I liked it so much, but I never did anything outside of class. And then I quit a few months later because doing it on a professional level turned out to be not very fun at all (at least in my opinion).
 
I also think people just generally lose the enthusiasm for it after a few years. Not all, but a lot seem to do. After a while it doesn't even cross your mind to open Photoshop up, even if you did it all the time previously.
