Hair renders

Can you guys help me render hair I'm really struggling on cutting and I can't get anything going.

i cut hair pretty deep, then use around 5 different sets of hair brushes I found on deviantart to brush on a separate layer underneath the main one.. then merge when I feel like it's adequate.


i also clone using these brushes.. and rotate the image around to accommodate the brushes if need be

i know gtown uses smudging technique

You already told me that but I didn't really get it. Do you cut the pic first and then use the cloning tool?
