Tough call after he dealt with so many injuries this year and still got them to the playoffs, but there had been rumors he was almost fired at midseason. Also hearing this makes Conley leaving that much more likely

Really dumb move by the Grizzlies, after a really dumb move to fire the guy before him (Lionel Hollins). Seems like they're just making changes for the sake of making changes.

Worst FO move in recent memory. Joerger maximized that roster all 3 seasons and is the West's Brad Stevens as far as young coaches are concerned.

Terrible, terrible move. Enjoy losing Conley and irritating Gasoline because of both of these disasters.

The Grizzlies shall return to being a joke.

He was trying to leave dude. Also think you're overestimating him as a coach. What did the Grizzlies do with him there that they didn't do with hollins? He's not a bad coach but he's no Brad Stevens

The Memphis Grizzlies have received permission to interview Miami Heat assistant David Fizdale as well as Ettore Messina of the San Antonio Spurs, sources told ESPN's Marc J. Spears.

In addition to established bench bosses like Frank Vogel, the Grizzlies are reported to be considering a number of up-and-coming assistant coaches for the position created by the dismissal of Dave Joerger one week ago. Memphis reportedly interviewed Charlotte Hornets assistant Patrick Ewing on Thursday.

Fizdale, 41, has worked as a NBA assistant for 13 years, and has been on Erik Spoelstra's staff with the Heat since 2008. Messina's name has been bandied about frequently as a potential head coach, and he's served alongside Gregg Popovich for the last two seasons after a successful career in Europe.

The Memphis Grizzlies were hoping to hire Frank Vogel as head coach but the unexpected resignation of Scott Skiles with the Orlando Magic has jeopardized that plan.

The Grizzlies have been most impressed by James Borrego and David Fizdale among the other candidates they've interviewed.

Memphis has also interviewed Patrick Ewing, Nate Tibbetts and Ettore Messina.
