GIMP Help

I downloaded GIMP earlier today just to give it a try, but I have no idea how to do anything. Could somebody who's used it in the past tell me how you do anything, cuz right now all I can do is paste a render on a simple one colored BG and add some simple text. I don't really need any tuts right now, cuz I can't do much, but in the future (if I stick with it) they could help.
