Barry Zito(notes) has won 40 games for the San Francisco Giants since joining the team in 2007. He's also lost 58. The injured hurler who was expected to be a much bigger winner for the Giants when he signed what was then the largest contract for a pitcher in league history -- seven years, $126 million -- is on the disabled list but about to start a minor league rehab stint, according to the Sacramento Bee.
The paper reports that Zito will be taking his 6.23 ERA and sprained right foot to the Single-A San Jose Sharks on Monday.
Before he gets there, though, the San Jose squad will be joined by Pablo Sandoval(notes) on Friday as he works on recovering from surgery on his right wrist. The expectation is that Sandoval will play a couple of games there and then move up to the Triple-A Fresno Grizzlies for a few games before returning to the Giants, the Bee notes.
