I think if he ever plays he will be a really good player. Question is does he ever play?

Assuming that Philly knew this was coming, did they draft Okafor solely because of this?

They drafted Okafor because he was the best player available

Report: Joel Embiid re-broke navicular bone

Joel Embiid (foot) re-broke the navicular bone in his right foot, sources told the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Bad news is getting worse for Philadelphia. The Sixers issued a statement indicating Embiid hadn't healed as the team had hoped, but there was no indication that the big man had re-broken the bone again—until now. Embiid is facing another lost season and an uphill battle to prove he can get—and stay—on the floor.

There's a reason he slipped
I mean he went third overall, and in rankings he, Wiggins, and Jabari were all pretty equal. Maybe you take a healthy Embiid because its more scarce to find good bigmen than good wings, but in terms of talent Embiid was no more talented than the other two.

Most people had him as the favorite to go #1 before the foot injury

Only because the scarcity of talented big men that can dominate on both ends

Wiggins was going to go #1, regardless. Minnesota preferred him to Embiid, and even while not official, the Cavs were drafting for the Wolves.

If the Cavs were drafting for the Wolves they would have signed Wiggins to his rookie contract immediately and not waited, which delayed their trade even further.
