First cut ever, no idea how to do the void thing..

Not bad. Just go back and reselect everything select>modify>expand by 1 or 2 and press delete.

Nah. Get the magic wand tool and click the bg of the cut and then select>modify>expand by 1 or 2 and press delete.

anyone eles having problems with the SI uploader?

I was having problems the whole day. I just uploaded on imageshack or tinypic.

Better. Not bad for your first cut.

SI uploader only allows certain sizes.

and the technique of expanding/deleting is wrong - that will negatively effect your cut. Use Layer/Matting/Defringe instead -- that cuts way too deep into the render itself.

as for the cut -- rounding off and fix transitions.. just take it slow and keep trying to get better
