The Patriots have always been very smart about molding their roster to beat the teams in their division.  This is evidenced by whatever their ridiculous run of winning division titles is.  I think they've won it 11 or 12 times in the 14 seasons since the turn of the century.

I think the biggest singular reason the Pats pursue Revis is because they look at a couple of very green QBs in their division in Ryan Tannehill and E.J. Manuel, and then whatever scrub the Jets trot out, and they know an elite CB can just ruin a perfectly good Sunday afternoon for these guys.

How much better is Revis with a surgically repaired knee compared to a healthy Talib, though?  Likely just a lateral move, but a good move nonetheless.

Maybe a lateral move, but I think Revis believes he can return to Jets form and position himself to get PAID next year and that's why he signed on for 1 year.

Not a bad deal, really. 1 year is a steal for New England.

No they shouldn't have. No need to overpay for a guy who doesn't fit the system.

Revis's TB rankings from PFF:

#1 overall, #5 coverage grade, #1 overall, #2 Cov Snaps/Target, #2 Cov snaps/target, #1 yards/cover snap

Damn fantastic for being in the wrong system

Talib Wks 1-6 was lights out. But after his injury he was above average. Steve Smith killed him.

Revis will put whoever he is on, on Revis Island. And god, will we need him. Receivers we face this coming year:

Calvin Johnson
Brandon Marshall
AJ Green
Demariuus Thomas
Jordy Nelson
Mike Wallace
Reggie Wayne
and possibly Decker 2x

We needed the lockdown corner

you can argue that calvin and aj can't be stopped. slowed down, but not stopped.

id consider calvin unstoppable. has at least 3-4 inch height advantage on almost every corner

Was looking forward to Flash Gordon droppin 200 yards on Revis Island in Tampa this year, shame it will have to wait until the AFC title game, if the Pats make it that far.
