Guys I'm just curious, how exactly do you use the pen tool to cut a picture?

Like I know how you use it, but how do you get rid of the background that was selected in the picture.

If you don't know what I mean let me know.

use the pen tool in certain areas, then make a box around the bg you don't want and then right click it and click on make selection then press the delete button

Yeah, with your closed path selected right click with the pen tool and click on "make selection". Use a feather of 0-0.1 - anything more than that feathers it too much and it looks bad.

I don't feather at all.

You're doing it the right way. I've seen people use a feather of like 0.5 - 1 and it doesn't look right, the edges are too soft.

New cutters tend to do that to cover up mistakes but it looks terrible. 0 is the best.

You didn't know how to use the Pen.
I use the Pen and have no clue how to use the lasso(thats what it's called in GIMP)

But yea if you feather too much it looks like shiit.

I know how to use it, I just didn't know how to delete the background.

The lasso is easy as hell in PS.

I'm not good with the lasso either, always use the pen. Different strokes for different folks I suppose.

I watched a vid by SDSportsFanatic (I think?) and he used the lasso, had a goalie cut out in like 2 minutes. Cuts take me like half an hour, I wasnt impressed with myself. LOL

Yea Im more fond of the polygonal lasso. It has never done me wrong.

BTW, cuts don't take that long depending on how fast you go and how big the pic is.
