Crosby is still suffering the lingering effects from a concussion he suffered last season and has not played in an NHL game since January 5. He will be joined at the news conference by Penguins general manager Ray Shero and some of the doctors and medical staff managing his case.
Crosby has been skating regularly and is expected to skate in Pittsburgh on Wednesday and Friday.
Last month, the team issued a statement saying that Crosby has been seeing concussion specialists around the country in an effort to monitor his progress.
Reports out of Halifax had the 24-year-old cancelling on-ice training sessions, including ice-time he had booked at a local arena, after concussion symptoms were said to have returned.
However, Crosby's agent Pat Brisson denied the report and said it is too early to speculate on whether or not the Penguins captain will be ready for training camp this month.
"Sidney hasn't been shut down by anyone," Brisson said last month. "He has simply adjusted his summer program accordingly to the different needs for the appropriate recovery."
Brisson said Crosby is doing well and his status for training camp will be discussed on Wednesday.
