Clausen 'almost certain' to start the opener?

Charlotte Observer columnist Tom Sorensen believes Jimmy Clausen will "almost certainly" be under center against the Cardinals in Week 1.
Just a day earlier, fellow Observer columnist Scott Fowler predicted that rookie Cam Newton wouldn't start until well into October. The Panthers are expected to sign a journeyman veteran to hold the clipboard, offer advice to Clausen and Newton, and be available for spot duty. This latest talk out of Charlotte reinforces the notion that it will be far more challenging for rookie QBs to start right out of the gates after missing offensive install in minicamps.

The Panthers will have to install a completely new offense whenever camps get underway anyway. So I don't see how the sophomore QB in Clausen would be the clear favorite.

Me neither.

After the putrid performance that Clausen put up for numerous games last year, starting and getting Cam involved seems to be the better choice anyways. It's not like Clausen is going to outperform Cam at this point.

Clausen is more comfortable with the Panthers players than Newton. However, I seriously doubt Newton missed anytime at all.. Along with any QB drafted in the top 15.
