Statesman Journal - Oregon running back LeGarrette Blount believes that he's the best rusher in this year's NFL Draft.

Character issues have caused his stock to slide and he won't be the first running back taken next week.

"He was a first- or second-rounder before," said John Clayton, an NFL analyst for ESPN.

C.J. Spiller (Clemson), Jonathan Dwyer (Georgia Tech), Ryan Matthews (Fresno State), and Jahvid Best (California) are projected as the top running backs in the NFL draft.

"I still hold myself in the league of those guys," Blount said. "To be 100 percent honest, I feel like I'm the best running back in this draft."

The sad part is, if he had a good head on his shoulders he easily could be regarded among one of the best this year, no doubt in my mind.

Perhaps he is one of the better runners in the draft. But the whole incident killed his stock either way.

Is he suppose to say "no I'm terrible"? If you're a pro prospect you're going to say you're the best at your position..

He is a great running-back. I don't care that he punched that dude in the face to be honest -- his team lost a big game -- the other guy talked crap and he punched him in the face. Teams should be lucky to have someone whose so passionate about winning.

He is going to be a super stud. ANYBODY GETS IN HIS WAY HE IS GOING TO KNOCK THEM OUT.

I believe he is a superior running back but the best is not total truth. I do like his 'tude though. He will bring fans to the seats for sure.

That's probably what he's supposed to say, but IMO he could be one of the best. If he put in the time and effort, of course.

anyone remember the Rams taking a certain RB with excellent credentials, but shady off-the-field life?

Teams have to be aware that despite his talent, he might not be on the field long enough cuz he's a douche-bag

Not quite sure who you are talking about, it can't be Jackson.

But I'd be pretty happy if the Lions got Blount.
