The Portland Trail Blazers announced the hiring of former Los Angeles Clippers executive Neil Olshey on Monday, ending a GM search that lasted 377 days. Earlier Monday, reports broke that Olshey had agreed to "part ways" with the Clippers just days after the two sides had announced an "agreement in principle" that would have brought him back for the 2012-2013 season.

J.A. Adande ‏@jadande
Now Clippers will have a GM build relationship w/CP3 and Blake from scratch right before it's time to talk extensions. Not ideal.

J.A. Adande ‏@jadande
That being said, GM usually not THE factor for players. i.e. CP3 was cool w/Dell Demps, but instability of ownerless Hornets scared him.

RT @FredKatz: I'd be more scared of instability of owned Clippers

Is he really considered to be a good GM? What has he done other than trading the #1 pick for Mo Williams and get CP3 gift wrapped to him by Stern?

That CP3 trade was good for both teams, but neither GM deserves any credit for that.

The Baron Davis, unprotected pick deal is historically bad.
