A's give Coco Crisp two-year extension

The A's have signed outfielder Coco Crisp to a two-year deal that extends through the 2016 season with a vesting option for 2017.
 
The 34-year-old leadoff man will be entering his 13th Major League season this spring, and fifth with the A's. He's a career .272 hitter with 108 home runs, 531 RBIs and 278 stolen bases over 1,294 games between the Indians (2002-05), Red Sox (2006-08), Royals (2009) and A's (2010-present).
 
In 131 games last year, Crisp hit .261 with 22 doubles, three triples, 22 homers, 66 RBIs and 21 stolen bases. It made him just the 10th 20-20 player in A's history and the first since Ruben Sierra in 1993. He's 141-for-162 in stolen base attempts as an Athletic (at 87 percent, it's the best in franchise history) and all of his career-best 22 homers last season came in the leadoff spot, the most in the Majors.
 
Crisp also led all Major League outfielders in total chances per nine innings (3.03) last season, the best mark by an A's outfielder since 1992 (Willie Wilson with 3.54). He enters the 2014 season on a 138-game errorless streak, fifth longest in A's history by an outfielder.
 
Crisp was voted the 2013 Jim "Catfish" Hunter Award winner by his teammates, coaches and staff. It honors a player whose play on the field and conduct in the clubhouse best exemplifies the "courageous, competitive and inspirational spirit demonstrated by the late Hall of Fame pitcher."
 

Seems that Oakland and Coco are a nice match. He bounced around somewhat, but found a nice security in Oakland. He also seems to be playing with more youthfulness there and has been a productive lead-off hitter for them.
